Come and join us for a 9 Mile race on the beautiful Lackawaxen river. Check in begins at 9am for a prompt 11am start time at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Dyberry Township. Boats launch about every minute down Dyberry Creek toward Honesdale. Dyberry Creek merges into the Lackawaxen for a beautiful trek down river. See the town of Honesdale from a different perspective as you travel a river rich with history. From there, you continue downstream, finally ending in White Mills at Factory Field (previously Fireman’s Field) at the intersection of White Mills Road and Route 6.


2024 Changes: Figura Concessions will be offering breakfast for purchase at the start of the race. Bag lunches will be available for purchase for those who pre-register. Soigne Crepes will be at the conclusion of the race serving up delicious Crepe options for lunch!

FAQ

What should we do first? Please come to the start of the race at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds are off of 191 North on Miller Drive. Our launch location is on the right before the turn to go up the hill to the Dessin Animal Shelter. There is a parking lot you may use to drop off your canoe or kayaks for the race. Please drop off your canoe/kayak and check in with us so we can assign you your number, give you your tag and your awesome t-shirt, and get all set to go before launch.

Where do we park? The address for the end of the race is Factory field across the street from 8 Riverside Drive, White Mills, PA 18473. When making the turn onto White Mills Road from Route 6, cross the bridge and follow the signs on your right. We will direct you on where to park. Please note that the race will start promptly and participants will be taken in order. we encourage all participants to be back to the race start by no later than 10:45am.

Is there a shuttle? Yes! There will be a free shuttle for participants. First, please come to the start of the race to check in and drop off your boat. Then bring your car to Factory field and we will give you a free lift back up to the launch site.

Will there be food/drink available for purchase? We will have food and drink available for purchase for breakfast from Figura Concessions and for lunch at the conclusion of the race from Soigne Crepes.

Are there public restroom facilities? We are proud to be sponsored by Reeves Rent-A-John to offer restroom facilities at the start and finish of the race.

What can I expect for weather? The past couple of years we have experienced air temperature in the 60s. However, the water temperature can be quite frigid and it is suggested to dress appropriately.

Do you have kayaks and canoes for rental? We are very lucky to partner with Sawmill Cycles to offer canoes and kayaks for rental for the day of the event. These have to be reserved in advance. Click here to be directed to Northeast Wilderness Experience for rental information

How do I know who won? We will post a list of the winners and their times at the conclusion of the race. The list will also be available to view on our facebook.

Do I have to register online? Online registration is not required but is encouraged as it is extremely convenient and safe. You can register day of the event in person.
